Ed Gensho Welsh began training as lay student of Chozen and Hogen Bays in 2002 and received jukai in 2006. In 2013 he completed Sanghakai, a 3-year program designed to cultivate different aspects of sangha leadership. He received the title of Dharma Holder in 2016. He served on the ZCO board as an officer and then as a director from 2003 to 2013. Currently, he leads weekday morning zazen at Heart of Wisdom Zen Temple in Portland. He facilitates workshops and retreats focused on addiction recovery. He has enjoyed a long career in Information Technology and is a married father of three grown children.
