3) Silent Illumination intensive Retreat at Dharma Drum Retreat Center, NY from Oct 21 (6pm) to 29 (1pm), 2017.
The "silent illumination" method or mozhao is one of the defining methods of Chan/Zen. In Japanese, through Dogen, this method is known as shikantaza or "just sitting." In the original Chinese tradition, however, this method was taught as an advanced method that extends to daily life. In addition to sitting meditation, this retreat will be taught in the context of daily life activities, such as standing, walking, sleeping, working, and eating. The retreat also includes daily talks, meditation instruction, guided meditation, and personal interviews. Other methods for chanting and gentle yoga will also be taught to harmonize the body, breath, and mind. For more info or registration: http://www.dharmadrumretreat.org/activities.php?id=2017-SI3
